Faucet Filtration Systems
Easy attachment and removal
Faucet filtration systems easily attach to your faucet providing you and your family with great tasting, healthy water. A faucet filtration system is one of the cheapest ways to have filtered water readily.
This type of filter has different capabilities depending on which make and model you purchase. The standard type of faucet filter will remove more than 75% of chlorine and mineral particulates. It also meets standards for the removal of lead, cysts and asbestos. You can expect these to have an indicator light that will tell you when the filter needs to be changed.
Some of the benefits of this type of filtration system are:
- Faucet filters attach easily to your faucet requiring no tools and very little effort on your part.
- Most of today’s models allow you to easily switch to unfiltered water. This makes them a little more versatile than under the sink filters. The advantage to switching it off is that you can extend the life of your filter.
- Most faucet filters last up to 100 gallons of water. On average, this will give you 2 to 3 months of clean water.
- Faucet filters effectively remove chlorine, lead, pesticides, alachlor, herbicides and sediment from your drinking water.
- Faucet filtration systems are unobtrusive into the space you have in your kitchen. Some other kinds of filtration systems leave you with very little space for things you need in your kitchen.
Some cons of a faucet filtration system are:
- They are not nearly as robust as other methods of filtering. They are designed primarily for the removal of tastes and odors.
- They are odd looking compared to the more widely accepted pitcher style filters or under the sink filters.
- These are obviously restricted to the filtering of water from one tap.
Before you purchase
These are built to fit a standard tap but they may not fit all fixtures, so be sure that your fixture is “faucet-filter-friendly” first.
If you are looking to purchase a faucet filtration system expect to pay anywhere from $30 to $100 (or possibly more), depending on the brand and design of the filter.
