Brita Water Filters
One of the most well-known water filters in the world
In 1996, Heinz Hankammer decided to develop a means of giving consumers healthy, purified drinking water, using the easiest means possible. After introducing a filter which completely desalinates water, called the AquaDeMat, Hankammer was well on his way to success. His first product received rave reviews and quickly became a popular choice for homeowners. Shortly thereafter, Hankammer formed a company called Brita, named after his daughter. Currently, Brita is the world market leader in freestanding household water filters and has become (pardon the pun) a household word.
Brita calls itself “the market leader in portable household water filtration” and is known widely for its pitcher style water filters. While Brita does have faucet filtration systems and water coolers, as of 2006, it does not make whole home systems or water filtration on a scale this large.
Some Brita products
The Brita Disposable Kitchen is a relatively new addition to the Brita line and it is a bit of a revolution in the water filtration industry: a disposable water filter for your tap. This is attached to your tap and will last about a year. There is no filter to change – you simply dispose of the entire unit at about one year. This retails for just under $40, and it feature Brita’s elegant design lines – perhaps the defining aspect of the Brita brand. The two stage filtration process also eliminates some pesticides.
Brita Pitchers come in a variety of styles that range in price, depending on the size. The Ultramax Dispenser, a kind of box-like unit, is one of the highest priced, largest capacity units in the Brita line. If you’re looking for a big-family-sized Brita filter, this is the one for you.
Brita Water Cooler Filters range in cost from $129 up to $209.
Brita Pitchers and Cooler Filters are designed for drinking water purposes only. They can provide you with healthier, better tasting water and can also help reduce certain health risks like cancer, liver and kidney damage, stomach and intestinal distress, as well as anemia. Brita effectively eliminates 98 percent of lead, copper, mercury and chlorine.
